Yo creo que una de las grandes razones
que hemos regresado a Patzún es debido a los niños. Vemos su inocencia; experimentamos
su alegría. En muchos sentidos, queremos volver a ser como ellos: tan simple,
tan despreocupada. Sí, sabemos que tienen sus luchas, unos más que otros. Sin
embargo, la inocencia de la niñez nos dibuja aquí, porque en su simple testigo
nos presentan con algo tan profundo.
Y, por alguna razón, queremos ser como
ellos.
Jesús nos recuerda en el Evangelio de
hoy que tenemos que ser como niños para entrar en el Reino de los Cielos.
Debemos emular su inocencia, su alegría. Sin embargo, también debemos ser como
niños a través de nuestra dependencia de Dios. Al igual que un niño es
dependiente de sus padres para fomentar, apoyar y protegerlos, así que debemos
estar delante de Dios nuestro Padre. Buscamos especialmente a los niños porque
en ellos y a través de ellos, la profunda sencillez de nuestra fe es vista y
nos encontramos delante de nuestro Dios – hace presente en Palabra y Sacramento
– buscan su crianza, apoyo y protección, como buscamos vivir una vez más en el
original inocencia y la alegría que parece eludiéndonos como, por falta de una
mejor palabra, maduro.
Deseamos llegar a ser como niños,
porque vemos en ellos la profunda sencillez del amor de Dios.
I
believe that one of the great reasons we have returned to Patzún is because of
the children. We see their innocence; we experience their joy. In many ways, we
want to become like them again: so simple, so carefree. Yes, we know that they
have their struggles, some more than others. Nevertheless, the innocence of
childhood draws us back here, for in their simple witness they present us with
something so profound.
And,
for some reason, we desire to become like them.
Jesus
reminds us in today’s Gospel that we need to become like little children to
enter into the Kingdom of Heaven. We need to emulate their innocence, their
joy. However, we also need to become like children through our dependence on
God. Just as a child is dependent upon his or her parents to nurture, support
and protect them, so we must be before God our Father. We especially look to
the children here because, in them and through them, the profound simplicity of
our faith is exampled, and we find ourselves standing before our God – made
present in Word and Sacrament – seeking His nurturing, support and protection,
as we seek to once again live in the original innocence and joy that seems to
elude us as we, for lack of a better word, mature.
We
desire to become like children, for we see in them the profound simplicity of
the love of God.
